How to Get Rid of Crickets

If you have a cricket in your home then chances are you are well aware that it is there. You probably hear it chirp - a lot. Chirping can be especially annoying at night when they tend to chirp the most and the loudest. Besides the annoyance of chirping, though, crickets can also be damaging when inside your home. They will eat a wide variety of items, and not just food items, but also clothing and other materials. If you have a cricket in your home you need to find out how to get rid of crickets.

Get Rid of Crickets

Getting rid of crickets in your home is quite easy. There are several products on the market that aid in getting rid of these pests. The most effective and preferred ways of eradicating crickets in homes is the use of poisons or baits. There are also homemade solutions that are easy to do and are effective. Here are some of the common ways to get rid of crickets.

Bug Spray and Other Chemicals - The majority of bug sprays on the market are capable of killing crickets. There are also chemicals specifically made for crickets. These products are usually in liquid form. Spray or apply these chemicals in places where you hear or see cricket infestation. These chemicals are also dangerous to humans, so make sure you read the instructions before using any of them.

One way to control crickets is to prebait before they enter the lawn. A chemical treatment program, started early enough, is also effective. Maxforce Granules is an effective pre-bait chemical that is sprinkled around the yard before a rain. Crickets feeding on these granules would die immediately. However, this is effective only if the crickets have not yet established themselves in the yard. If there are cricket nests already, regular chemical treatment once a month for at least three months is necessary.

Fortunately, these are not too difficult to control. You will have a hard time keeping them out once they start coming in, but getting rid of them is not too hard. As long as you do a good cleaning of carpets, furniture, rugs and drapes then you should be able to get rid of them. Lastly, if you do find the specific area where the carpet beetles are getting in then you can simply close it up so they can no longer get in. Be aware, though, that most will enter from the attic area or in some area where they can easily get inside. You may not find the actual entrance, but as mentioned, if you do everything to get rid of them then you will be eliminating the perfect environment for them to live and they will not be interested anymore in coming inside.

Mole Crickets - Injury Damage to Lawns:

There are two ways that Mole crickets cause injury and damage to lawn. First, direct damage is caused by the mole crickets chewing on grass roots. Secondly, and probably more serious, is the damage caused by the burrows or tunnels. Mole Crickets loosen the soil around the root system, causing the roots to dry out. It tears plants from their growing places, destroys roots, and pushes mounds of soil above the turf. A single mole cricket may claw and tunnel through more than a dozen feet of lawn in a day.
