A pedicure is the ultimate pampering experience: Whether you go to a day spa or DIY, your feet will be better for it. Our everyday shoes can cause havoc with callouses, corns and blisters becoming second nature to keeping up with the addiction that many of us have to shoes! You don’t need to rush off to a salon before donning those open-toed shoes. Get your feet in tip-top shape at home.

Pamper Prep
Position a chair behind a clean, wide bucket filled with hot water.
Fold a bath towel into a square and place it at the bottom of the bucket. “This will give your feet a comfortable surface to rest on when you soak them,” says Bialo.
Add half a cup of Epsom salt, a natural disinfectant. “I also like to throw in a few capfuls of Johnson + Johnson Soothing Vapor Bath for Colds,” says Bialo. “It contains rosemary, eucalyptus and menthol — three therapeutic, cleansing herbs that make the room you’re in smell just like a spa.”
File & Shape: After washing both your hands and feet, file the toenails so that they are short and neat. Be sure to round off the edges of the nail and trim any sharp corners so they do not dig into your skin.
Soak: Place your feet in the foot bath and allow them to soak for approximately 5 minutes. Dry feet thoroughly and apply cuticle oil if desired.
Push Cuticles: Using a cuticle pusher or orangewood stick, gently push back the cuticles on your toenails. You can trim the excess, dead cuticle with a pair of cuticle scissors or nippers.
Fill a tub or foot bath with warm water and drop in a 1/2 ounce of your favorite bath salts (sea salts are a good substitute if you don’t have bath salts on hand). Add a tablespoon of olive oil and soak your feet for 10-15 minutes. The salts will soften up dry skin and calluses, while the olive oil moisturizes.
Banish dead skin and calluses.
Massage an exfoliating body scrub into the bottoms of your feet. Leave the scrub on, and use a pumice-like surface to buff down calluses and slough away dead skin cells. Rinse your feet with cool water.
