We all know how it feels: we have stubborn fat at both sides of our abdomen which bulges out whenever we wear a tight jeans. For women it’s even worse because having love handles makes it unattractive to wear tank tops or shirts which expose their belly. A lot of men and women have to look at the mirror carefully every time they leave the house to make sure they’ve got their love handles covered. That’s a shame because you can eliminate your love handles with the right diet and exercise routine.
Get up in the morning and drink some warm water. Warm up your body for some exercises. Stomach vacuums are the perfect way to exercise abs muscles. Stand straight and pull your stomach in. While pulling it in, you should breathe out and then hold it there for as long as possible. Slowly, leave it out and breathe in. Do this repeatedly for at least 10-15 minutes everyday. It may pain a bit initially since the abs muscles are being moved after a long time.
Adipocytes get large by feeding them. If you eat more calories than you burn, some of the excess carbohydrate will be stored as sugar, or glucose, in the muscles (called glycogen), and the rest of the excess will be stored as fat in the fat cells. If you continue to eat more than you burn, you continue to feed the adipocytes with fat and you get fatter.
Aerobic exercise stimulates the adipocytes to release lots of fat. That fat will be burned by the muscles during exercise, and if not, it returns to the adipocytes for storage.
Don’t over-work the oblique muscles. Using weights for side-bends can build up the muscles so much that you get a thickened, rather than slender, waistline.
Do work on your back muscles, including the latissimus dorsi (or lats) - the large, fan-shaped muscle across your middle back. Toned lats will give your back a beautiful “V” shape that minimises your waist. Swimming (front crawl is good) or using the rowing machine help you to shed fat at the same time.
Using Weights for Spot Reduction Simply Doesn’t Work
Rather to slim your middle you need to eat a healthy and as Crystal suggested throw in a big dose of cardio workouts. Sorry. No spot reduction type obliques workout shortcuts here I’m afraid. The right cardio workout for fat burning will burn calories and result in overall weight loss. And any weight loss will eventually show up in the form of less bulgy waistline.
And for sure don’t be looking for any fat burning veggies!

Abstinence - beer is one of the world’s leading causes of the belly bulge. There’s nothing wrong with drinking alcohol in moderation, but note that the key word in that phrase is moderation. If you want to have a well earned brew after a hard day’s work, by all means, take it. But resist those urges to vegetate on the couch in front of a TV with a 6 pack, pizza, and a bag of chips. Beer does double damage to your gut if you also tend to overeat junk food when you drink it just to keep the buzz from hitting you too fast.
