How to Play Solitaire - To play the standard version of Solitaire, a card game, you will need a deck of fifty-two playing cards and a table or other flat surface to play on. The deck will consist of thirteen hearts, thirteen diamonds, thirteen spades, and thirteen clubs. Each suit will consist of an ace, a king, a queen, a jack, being face cards. Then, each suit has a card starting at ten and going down to a two or deuce. Shuffle the deck well, especially if it is a new deck that is unsorted. Likewise, the top card of each tableau pile is available for play onto the foundations or another tableau pile. Cards within the tableau may be build down in sequence and alternating color. A sequence of cards may be moved as a unit from one pile to another. When a face-down tableau card is exposed, turn it face-up. If a space is created in the tableau, it may only be filled with a king. The stock may be recycled from the wastepile when it becomes empty. The game ends when either all foundations are filled (in which case you’ve won), or when no more moves are possible (or when the only possible move is to recycle the stock). In this case you’ve lost. Any card that is face up in any Stack is available for play. To move a card, stack or partial stack from one Column Stack to another, simply click highest card you want to move and drag it to the other stack. Only a King or stack starting with a King can be moved into an empty Column Stack position. To move the top card from the Play Deck to any stack, click and drag it. To move the top card from the Play Deck or any Column Stack to a Suit Stack, click and drag it – or double click it and it will go automatically to the right stack.

It is important that you see what cards you have laid on a tableaux so you should always leave the top edge of a card showing when you place another one on top.
