How to play darts
Playing darts is a great way to pass the time with good friends and good laughs. While there are many variations of games played with a dartboard, the most well-known approach is for each player to start with a number of points ending in -01 (e.g. 301, 501, 1001). Then, they have to play darts and throw their darts, trying to get to zero before all the other players. First to zero wins!
Things You’ll Need:
• Nonskid Tapes
• Measuring Tapes
• 2 Sets Of 3 Darts
• Dartboards
Step 1: Hang the dartboard so that the center is 5 feet 8 inches from the floor.
Step 2: Mark the throwing line, called the \'oche\' (rhymes with \'hockey\'), with nonskid tape. The line should be 7 feet, 9 1 /4 inches from the face of the dartboard (not the wall), according to the World Darts Federation.
Step 3: Make sure the tape mark lies so that the front edge is the actual line. In other words, a player may step on the tape, but not past it.
Step 4: Give each player or team three darts, and determine who throws first by having each player or team representative throw one dart. The player or team, whose dart is closest to the center, or bull\'s-eye, gets to go first.
Step 5: Warm up, as competitive dart players do, by alternating throws until each person has thrown nine darts.
Step 6: Once the game begins, take your turn by throwing your three darts.
Step 7: Add up the score. Each part of the board has a number, and that is the dart\'s score.
Step 8: Count a dart that misses the board completely as a throw. The score for that dart is zero.
Step 9: Remove your darts and allow the other player to throw.
Step 10: Alternate until the game is over. There are numerous dart games, including the simple one in which players throw five sets, and whoever has the highest score wins.

Board Set Up
The board setup is quite simple. The following are guidelines to make sure your board meets regulation.
* Mount the dart board on a wall with the center of the double bull at 5 ft 8 in from the floor.
* Mark the oche, or toeline, at 7 ft 9.25 in from the face of the board. Remember to take into account the dart board depth when measuring the toeline. A bristle dart board has an average depth of 1.5 inches.

General Rules
While most places have their own house rules, the following are some standards to get you started:
Shooting order
* To decide who shoots first, both players shoot for the bullseye. The player who comes closest shoots first and turns alternate thereafter.
* A turn consists of three darts, each thrown from behind the oche.
Legal throws
* The point of the dart must touch the board to count.
* Darts that miss the board or bounce to the floor do not score and cannot be rethrown. A player may pick up and play a dropped dart.
