How to set goals

Goals and dreams aren\'t unimportant. They disclose where hidden gifts, passion and vitality lie. Whether it\'s to glide in the Olympics, sing in a choir, remodel your bathroom or do stand-up comedy, when your goals are obviously stated, they are much more likely to be achieved.

How to set goals step 1 - Start small, but keep walking. Goals don’t necessarily have to be big ones. When you set your goal too high, you might find it too overwhelming and time consuming and just give up, or make a new one, just as big. It’s akin to quitting cold turkey – there are setbacks.

How to set goals step 2
- Be optimistic when stating your goals. Instead of saying, “I am not going to miss my work out routine today,” say “I’m really busy, so I’ll almost certainly just make time for twenty minutes on the treadmill.” Stating your goal positively will help you view it as a good thing to do, and not as a byproduct of what you had to avoid.

How to set goals step 3 - Remember that some fears are unfounded. How do you know you’ll actually ruin it? And how do you know for sure your coworkers will laugh at your effort? If you try to reason with your fears, more often than not, you’ll realize that there really is no cause for you to be reluctant and that in fact, you can do it.

How to set goals step 4
- Ponder more personal goals: How do you want to feel? Do you want to have a family? Create a stronger one? How would you want those who love you most to explain you and the life you live? Would you like to change your mind-set or how you relate to people? Perk up a core relationship? Be truthful.

How to set goals step 5 - Use your daily to-do list as a means to reach even your life goals. Now that you\'ve divided your goals into attainable tasks, incorporate those tasks into your list and choose them off, one at a time
