How to write a bibliography

A bibliography is an alphabetical list of all the sources you used when researching an essay or paper.

You will find it easier to prepare your final bibliography if you keep track of each book, encyclopedia, or article you use as you are reading and taking notes. You\'ll want to keep track of the full title, author, place of publication, publisher, and date of publication for each source.

Every citation in a bibliography should include the author and title. If it is a book, it should also include the date and place of publication. If it is an article, it should include the magazine or newspaper title, volume number, year or date of publication and appropriate page numbers and you know this how to write bibliography.

When assembling a final bibliography, list your sources (texts, articles, interviews, and so on) in alphabetical order by authors\' last names. Sources that don\'t have authors (encyclopedias, movies) should be alphabetized by title.

Ways to write bibliography

A bibliography or bibliographies provide an alphabetical list of sources that may have been used in order to create a piece of work. Bibliographies are often part of college research papers and academic articles, and in these cases, the bibliography lists all the works referred to in that paper or article. Now these sources may appear in various forms, for eg. books, magazines, newspapers, CD ROMs, Internet, interviews, etc. In fact its said that all biographies begin with research which may include everything from hunting in a library to searching on the Web.

Bibliographies actually help us to acknowledge our sources, to ensure the accuracy of the information found in the written work and last but not the least, to give the readers information so as to identify and consult the sources. If you think how to write bibliography, know that if the bibliography is not included one may be accused of plagiarism (which is stealing another person\'s ideas or writing). Start a preliminary, or draft, bibliography by listing on a separate sheet of paper all your sources. Note down the full title, author, place of publication, publisher, and date of publication for each source.

Also, every time a fact gets recorded on a note card, its source should be noted in the top right corner. (Notice that in the sample note card, The World Book, Volume 2, page 21, has been shortened to: WB, 2, p.133.) When you are finished writing your paper, you can use the information on your note cards to double-check your bibliography.

When assembling a final bibliography, list your sources (texts, articles, interviews, and so on) in alphabetical order by authors\' last names.

Sources that don\'t have authors (encyclopedias, movies) should be alphabetized by title. There are different formats for bibliographies. These are the steps one must know if you want to learn how to write bibliography.
